1982 Subaru Leone

This was my first car. It started a lifelong love affair with Subaru that finally came full circle 18 years later when I bought my WRX.

To say I loved this car is an understatement. It wasn’t much - 1.5L, automatic, tape deck - but it was mine. My first wheels and it opened up the world to me. I had learned to drive, because that’s what you do, but now I got to really drive. Anywhere I wanted. Any time I wanted to go.

I scoured my house for a photo, but couldn’t find a single one. It was so long ago. I did find the sales brochures on eBay and bought those, which is where I got this picture. Mine was the same colour, though the bonnet was a bit faded.

I traded this car in for the Corolla. I still miss it.
