1992 Citroen AX GT 16

Hi,
Here it is my beloved pocket rocket!

A 1992 Citroën AX with 106 GTi engine and drive train (rear axle inc) and 306 S16 front brake and some other upgrade.
A nice and affordable Peugeot and Citroën parts mix for a fun, light ans competent FWD car.

The initial concept was “Fast student car” and it did the job well with not to 60 similar to Mini CooperS R50 and the great fun from 106 gti and Saxo Vts.
A easy job to do and instant result fo a car very cheap to run.

Great FWD driving school.

I planned ITBs and Megasquirt on it, but there is no really need to do that as the car is great for B road fun an occasional trackdays, plus the ability to be/stay usable on road for everythings from commuting to home moves (yes).

Awesome! Sounds like you’ve got a lot of work done. How much does it weigh?

Hi Jack,
It’s “fully loaded” as it is a road car.(and so much nicer interior than the Saxo)
But despite of being full of the Citroen GT interior it weights around 800 kg
A full stripped AX 16v should weight around 640 kg!
As the engine produce around 140 bhp it’s a honestly vigourous vehicle :P

Hi,
Really?!The Ax is not much aesthetically appreciated, due to it’s “boxy” design. With the time I liked it more and more, 3.50m long nice proportion, very short overhangs wheels at the 4 corner, all of that combined with a good stance (what normal Ax lacks a lot, too high, not enough front rake) give a sporty look and until know I didn’t see a better looking kit than the OEM sport/GT/GTi one :D
The AX is very interesting because it’s a direct “on the road” result of a Conceptcar of the 80’s the ECO2000.The Concept was efficiency and low cost, the result was a very light and aerodynamics car with tiny and robust engine for commuting, mostly in city but also quite good for everything.
Put good drive train and engine and it will make wonders!
