1991 Ford Taurus SHO Plus
My 1991 Ford Taurus SHO Plus. But it does have V-TEC. I’ll explain later.
This car was a hand-me-down from my dad, he rebuilt the engine and did aftermarket exhaust before it was put in storage in our barn, where it sat for six years. After I learned to drive manual, I got it up and going and now it’s my dearly-loved daily. Next, I really want an e24 6-series, but I don’t have the guts to let go of this one to get that one. It’s an emotion thing, ya know.
3.0L Yamaha V6, 3K miles on rebuild, 128K miles total.
Making somewhere around 260HP
0-60 in 6 seconds flat, I could probably get it into the low fives if it tried.
A/M exhaust with performance cats and new Magnaflow mufflers.
Steering communicates, but isn’t precise. Cause ‘merica. Handles flat, and if you push it too hard, you just let off the throttle and the front sucks itself in. The one perk of FWD I guess.
Because it is FWD and packs some power….many many torque steers. And FWD wheelspin too.
At 4kRPM VTEC kicks in. Except for it’s not V-TEC. I still call it that tho cause it does kick in. Extra runners open up, the exhaust note goes from a deep FIIIIIIIGARRO to the highest note from the “Phantom of the Opera” and it pulls twice as hard all the way to 7k. Then you shift, stays in the LOUD NOISES sweet spot and just keeps pulling.
I love it.
