If you’ve never had the pleasure of playing Euro Truck Simulator, we’d recommend giving it a go immediately. Once you’re hooked on the surprisingly addictive and serene simulator, come back here and read all about the purchase you’re going to make in this new-found money pit hobby.

This is the Moza TSW, and it’s described as ‘the world’s first tailor-made’ truck sim wheel. Coming from a firm that’s normally better known for producing sim racing hardware, it’s quite the switch.

The wheel rim is designed to faithfully replicate the experience of being behind the wheel of a real lorry, and its 400mm diameter is said to match the standard for HGVs. That’s quite an increase on the usual sim racing rim, which tends to measure in the low-mid 300mm range.

It shouldn’t feel cheap in the hands, either, with the unit said to be made of ‘aerospace-grade’ aluminium and wrapped in synthetic leather. That said, at £299 for just the wheel rim alone, we’d hope it wouldn’t feel cheap.

You’re getting a lot of controls for the money, though. Moza doesn’t say exactly how many functions are included on the TSW wheel, but we count 14 individual buttons plus two thumbsticks and an additional pair of scroll wheels. There’s a customisable strip of RPM-based shifter lights too, which seems like a strange inclusion on a wheel primarily designed for truck sim usage. It may prove useful when you’re racing away from the Eurotunnel, though.

If that’s not enough immersion, Moza is also working on an add-on which will include realistic stalks to control indicators, wipers, lights and even cruise control. No word yet on how much this will cost, but it’s set to go on sale in May.

Launching at the same time as the TSW wheel is a clamp designed for Moza’s existing wheelbases which will allow you to mount them at a near-vertical position for a more truck-like driving position. This will cost an extra £39.

Both the TSW wheel and the clamp are available directly from Moza now.

It’s worth noting that you’ll need to buy a wheelbase and pedals separately. Naturally, the TSW wheel has been designed primarily to work with Moza’s own range of wheelbases but the manufacturer says it’s also compatible with other brands. It’s worth checking compatibility before purchasing if you’re planning to head down that route.

That only applies if you’re using the wheel on PC - those planning to play on a console will need Moza’s Xbox-specific base, and it currently doesn’t offer a PlayStation-compatible unit.
