Real men drive manuals... the end.
Automatics have their place in the world, for example a manual Merc S500 would be idiotic.
DSG/ SMG/ Flappy Paddle/ PDK boxes have their place too… it’s called a race car. Where absolute speed is the be all and end all of everything.
But when it comes to sportscars; driving for pleasure… it has to be a manual. The extra involvement you get from a slick shifting manual, trying to nail the perfect shift, heel-and-toe braking into corners and nailing the perfect launch through clutch control rather than a computer chip is what makes you a real driver. Cars shouldn’t drive themselves if you want to call yourself a driver.

Seriously you can also have fun in a auto first of all when you don’t have a choice anymore this hate about only manual drivers are really drivers is annoying as hell !
I’m not hating… just stating. Yes you can have fun in an auto… and some cars really should be automatic. Big mercs, rolls royce etc… they should be automatics and would suck if they were manual. They are fantastically good cars, but they are not drivers cars.
Drivers cars are not just about the fun factor, its about the skill of driving, at least half of which is learning how to use your gearbox properly - things you can’t do in an automatic. Practicing hundreds of gearshifts under different loads; heel and toe braking and perfectly matching your revs when you downshift is the difference between someone who can drive and someone who is a driver. In my opnion, and I admit it is only my opinion, you can’t call yourself a real driver unless you can master these skills.
Driving is defined as taking control of a vehicle… how can you call yourself a real driver if you hand over half of those controls back to the very machine you are supposedly controlling???

This has gone to far. Like I’m less of a man for not driving manual really? Are we back to being high schoolers and insulting people for not being on the football team?

My boyfriend doesn’t have a car in general. ;-;
Atleast he’s trying to get a manual RX-8 though!
