My Trip to Japan: Mitsubishi Factory, Mizushima.

So, Last year, on the 15th or 16th of December, I went to the Mitsubishi Factory in Mizushima, whilst I was in Japan.
At this factory they made the Mitsubishi EK line of Vehicles, The iMIEV and other electric vehicles, and Lancers.

Including the Evo X Final Edition.

OVERVIEW OF PLANT HISTORY

The Plant has been around since 1943, for aircraft production, and began building it’s own vehicle, the “Mizushima” in 1946.

The plant constructed many, many vehicles over it’s time, reaching 30 million produced vehicles in 2010. The plant has been responsible for the construction of many vehicles, including every iteration of the Lancer, the FTO, and EK series of Kei cars.

In the Lobby/Entrance was a Mitsubishi Evo III Rally Car, which many of you rally fans may know.

The Plant had produced this vehicle, along with many, many other rallying Evolutions.

MY EXPERIENCE

We were shown around the plant and factory floor on a tour of the EK series production line. As the only petrolhead in our group, I was freaking out in joy. Sadly we were not allowed to take any photos of the manufacturing process, or any completed cars. I Saw 3 completed Evo Final Editions, and was flipping sh*t in joy.

We were also given a gift by the plant, a small EK wagon to keep each. Three of the members of our group gave me theirs, but I may have lost them.

Anyway, that was my shortened experience of the Mitsubishi factory in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

That sounds awesome. How did you manage to get a factory tour? Was it something they do upon request?

It was organized by the Kurashiki City Office for our group, but It would probably be a request thing.
