1987 Ford Mustang GT
Here is my 1987 Ford Mustang GT. Purchased from the supposedly second owner. I’ve always been interested in this style of Pony Car and that interest grew greater when my dad became the owner of a 1989 LX. When I acquired my Fox Body (let’s call her Foxy from now on) I was happy to have a small muscle car to call my own.
Before I bought Foxy, she sat for ~7 years or so I was told. But once a battery was installed, she started right up and purred just like a cat. Since owning her, she’s run into some ignition issues, but I’m working on that more and more! She makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel.
Current Mods:
BBK Short Tube Headers
BBK Subframe Connectors
MSD Cap (Purchased wrong rotor)
SR Cold Air Intake with BBK Adapter (Curse you Speed Density)
Ford Racing 9mm Plug Wires
NGK GPower Spark Plugs
Street Fire Coil
Equuis Volt Meter, Oil Pressure, Water Temperature Gauges
Kenwood Stereo with Rockford Fosgate Speakers
Edelbrock Upper and Lower Intake (Yet to be installed, winter project)
ROH ZS 17x8.5 Wheels (non polished rim)
Painted Monaco Blue Pearl (2001 Acura NSX Color)
I have a lot of plans for Foxy and I hope to solve some of her current issues (Fuel pump always running, causing flooding of engine, “Flat Spot” in power while accelerating, etc). But that’s all in the fun of building a car! Hopefully you enjoy her as much as I do.
I absolutely love the LX Taillight Lenses on any and every Foxbody! Sadly one of mine came loose and popped off on the highway. I was able to retrieve it though and it just needs a little TLC to buff out the scuffs and scratches!
Engine Bay
I want to clean up the Engine Bay quite a bit. The Battery will be relocated to the rear hatch and I want to tuck some wires. All of the vacuum lines need to be replaced due to dry rotting. My next plan is to remove the upper and lower intakes and transfer everything to my new Edelbrock upper and lower. (Good plan to do in the midst of winter!)
Heater Core Blew
Once I put new coolant in the radiator and ran it awhile, the Heater Core decided to blow. This caused constant filling up of coolant and coolant leaking out onto the headers (nasty!). She’s been put back together and heat is present once again! At least it wasn’t a head gasket causing all my coolant to “disappear”.
Center Console Gauges
Purchased a machined steel plate to mount the radio and gauges. Everything’s electrical. I originally had a mechanical oil pressure Gauge, but the copper tubing let up and leaked oil inside the car… I will never do that again… Also I have yet to replace the brass fitting on the lower intake for the Water Temperature sensor since my first one got broken off (if anyone knows the size that would be perfect!)
Edelbrock Performer RPM
Bought the upper and lower while I was back home and I cannot wait to install these onto Foxy! Should open up some airflow and gain some good HP (~37HP claimed!).
Sweet Dreams
This is how Foxy currently rests. Her winter slumber is hopefully a peaceful one!
Thanks for reading and I hoped you enjoyed!

Foxbodies are awesome, do you have the 5 speed manual, or the automatic?
also, what are your plans for her, Drag racing? Autocross? Time attack?
And that color is mint!
She’s a 5 speed! I’d like to try Drag Racing, but I’m also tempted to dive into the Autocross and Handling side of racing!
Yeah I really love the color too! Surprisingly it’s Monaco Blue Pearl from a 2001 Acura NSX (Previous owner painted it). Might keep it, or paint it Sonic Blue from the Terminator Cobras.
…
Beautiful fox man!
Thank you! I love how clean your Mustang is!
Awesome sound mate!! Enjoy it :D
Thank You! Your E46 is a beauty!
Awsome car man..im on the other side os the spectrum for projects but can definatly appreciate a car like foxy
Thank you! All cars can be appreciated in my books!
Sweet foxbody! I’ve been looking into getting one as a project car too. Hard to find a rust free one where I live.
Thank You! Yes it is hard! One of the reasons I purchased Foxy though. Only two rust bubbles on the door and surface rust on the hatch
Very nice fox that blue looks beautiful on it good luck with your build and keep us updated !
Thanks a lot! I’ll be sure to!
Nice car! I love the color. What exhaust do you have on it?
I don’t know the exact model, but I believe they’re dual flowmasters with BBK short tube headers. No cats I believe either. It’s been awhile since I’ve looked at the underside. Oh and thank you!
Nice car! A bit of a Mustang fan myself, mine are all New Edge Stangs, for now at least. I’ve actually thought about getting a Fox to put my SOHC 4.6 and drive train in for a drag rocket. Foxes make a decent drag car due to their lighter weight.
Great car! Always good to see others taking pride in their work.
That could be a decent build! I’ve seen it done before and there’s plenty of mods available. I know UPR products carry a lot of stuff for a swap like that!
Thanks!
www.corral.net should be your homepage with a fox. Huge wealth of knowledge and experience. Any question or problem you have is a search away
Yeah corral is full of information! I’ll be sure to look into further :) thanks!
