4 Reasons Why I Still Love Playing Live For Speed

Everyone is talking about NFS 2015, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, Forza 6 etc. and I’m still playing LFS! Why? Well, here are 4 reasons why I still love this game!

The community

When I played LFS for the first time, I was struggling to find out how the game works. I didn’t know how to setup a car, how to drive properly, I didn’t even know how to start the engine. xD Thanks to some awesome people I learned the basics and they even taught me how to drift (I’m not a pro but ..K). The community is very friendly and they always help new players by giving them sets, teaching them how to drift etc. You can’t find friendly players in every racing game.

The mods you can install.

In Live For Speed, you can literally mod EVERYTHING! You can add window stickers, you can change rims, steering wheel, interior, seats, you can even mod the driver’s suit and helmet! This way you will give a personal touch to your car. But be careful, some mods don’t work online!

The difficulty.

LFS is freaking hard! You need days of training to become a decent driver. You’ll have to find the perfect setup for your car and practice again and again in order to become good. That’s a reason why I love it. In many racing games, you just spend 10 minutes to get used to the game and then you are a drift king who can do wheelies and backflips. AW HELL NAW!

The physics

For such an old game the physics are so realistic. For example, you can’t take a corner with 160km/h without crashing into something. You can warm up your tires in order to slide more etc. I’ve tried many other games but I think it has the best physics.

Alright those were 4 reasons why I still play LFS. I’ll be online for some time so come and drift with me! Server: Tofu Race Drift Server. (LFS Demo)

It’s an old game so it’s easy to run. Specs:

Minimal system :
1 Ghz CPU, 3D accelerated video card, 128Mb system memory, 400Mb free HD space.

Recommended system :
2 Ghz CPU, Video card bought after 2006 with at least 128Mb of video memory, 512Mb system memory, 1Gb free HD space (for updates and accessories)

LFS will run on any Microsoft Windows system.

You can download the demo (3 cars and not all tracks but you can still play online) here:

I use an android phone and JD SimWheel App. Its free and much better than a mouse or gamepad.

That may be true, but if you look at the minimum required specs to run LFS, it wins by a long shot. That’s why it’s so attractive to some players (myself included).

I’ve played LFS since 2009, played many other racing sims, but I always end up going back to LFS, the other sims just dont feel the same!
