— NRK (@NRKno) January 1, 2016This empty shell is all that remains of a 2014 Tesla Model S after it burnt to the ground while being charged in Norway. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but is being investigated.
The incident happened when the owner of the Model S plugged it in and left it for charging. On returning a short time later, the car was engulfed in flames. Firefighters had to use a special foam to combat the flames and to make the lithium batteries safe.
Luckily, nobody was injured.

Mate, this happens to internal combustion cars also. For all we know, the fire could have been unrelated to the batteries.

It’s a lithium based battery, these things happen. I use Li-Po batteries for airsoft, I’ve had them burst into flames while charging in my garage. And I’ve had them catch on fire while using them for prolonged time. Batteries get hot, things happen, they catch on fire, not the fault of Tesla, it’s just an inherent danger.
Is it just me or does the Tesla look better when its burnt down?
