The Most Expensive Tesla Roadster In The World
I sort of like the Tesla Roadster. As a matter of fact, I'd love it if it didn't cost over a hundred thousand dollars.
I sort of like the Tesla Roadster. As a matter of fact, I'd love it if it didn't cost over a hundred thousand dollars. I love the environment and this planet, and I think we should be doing everything we can to minimize our impact on it, but if you were to give me 100K to go buy a car with, I would not be ringing up the Tesla dealer ... for that kind of scratch, I could get a very nice used Ferrari.
But I digress. What we have here is a Tesla Roadster (and I have to quibble with that name, because it's not a roadster, now is it?), which is billed as " The Most Expensive Tesla Roadster In The World" How so? For one thing, they re-did the interior, they being Al and Ed from Al and Ed's Autosound in West Hollywood. No, seriously.
Al and Ed have re-done the interior upholstery, stitching Tesla logos on the headrests in yellow thread and using special Lamborghini leather throughout. And no, I don't no what "special Lamborghini leather" is either, so just shut up, but it's special. Al and Ed said so.
Oh, that's not all. Look at the paint for example. That would be Lamborghini Giallo Orion, or pearl yellow to you and me. No, it's not a stock color, and the owner wanted his Tesla in that shade. So the unnamed owner took delivery of his Tesla in white primer, and let Al and Ed do their work.
Oh yeah, and carbon fiber, lots and lots of carbon fiber. There's to cover the roll bar, the door sills, and dash. It's slathered all over the place like the ghost of Colin Chapman on a Lysergic acid diethylamide bender. And then there's the sound system. If you want to waste, er, spend money on a car modification, a sound system is a perfect way to squander, er, spend it.
In this instance, we're looking at a Focal Utopia sound system that ran $12,000, $6,000 on the speakers themselves. There's a 600W hidden amplifier. Grand total: $50,000. Which, if you believe Al and Ed, makes this particular Tesla the "World's Most Expensive Roadster." Tesla, on the other hand, said that you could drop $50,000 on factory options, the Sport package, executive leather, clear-coat carbon fiber accents, all the warranties, that sort of thing.
