What you think of a BMW E36 Coupe (316i, 318i or even 320i) for first car?
Are the reliable? How much they “drink”? And those things…

316i are cheap, easy to find parts with and don’t drink much. 318i is a more powerful car, might even go with a 318is if you have the money; E36 parts are easy to find. And since they’re 4 cylinders, not much thirst
Thanks man, its my dream first car
Please educate me if I get things wrong (quite new to bmws) But isn’t the 316 and the sohc 318 (M43 engine?) kinda heavy for the power it’s making? Also, how much worth is in between the 1.9 and the 2.0 6cyl?
I’d go for an E36. They’re great cars, and the BMW community is fantastic. Always there to help!
Thanks man :D
just can be expensive on parts
Yes, but are they reliable?
i think the micro switches are a comen problem on the 2 door’s. and the engine cooling system aint known to be that good. :P thats wat kild my e36 cabrio. “sorry for the bad english btw” #NorwegianThatDidentPayAtantsjonInClass xD
Micro switches?
but its a graet car and good luck my next e36 wil be the 4 door salon 320 or the 325 :)
Got an E38 as my first car today! After driving fathers polo 2014 bluemotion, i was like whaaat is this, a new realm?
…and no problem, sorry my English too, Portuguese over here hahahaha
i dident repear it on my i just bended the window when i closed the door :/
reliability and power - 320 fuel economy and reliability - 318 power and fuel economy - 318is The 316 is too under powered for that 1 ton + chassis .
I’m happy with my 320i coupe, it’s great fun, it sounds awesome and I love the looks. The fuel is not that bad. Depends on how you drive. A friend of mine has a 316i and its not that I use like twice the amount of fuel. But if some things go wrong, it costs you a bit more than cheaper cars. But it doesn’t eat the money like crazy. Its a very nice car.
