SUBARU Legacy B4 RSK Review (2001)
This is the review about SUBARU Legacy B4 RSK ( 2001 ) , I bought this car on May 5, 2015 and I’m still a very happy owner of this car.
As a SUBARU guy and petrolhead in general I would like to share some information about this car. So this is third generation Legacy, mine is RSK edition which has 2 liter Twin Turbo engine. Well mine is completely stock except minor mods like strut bar under the hood abd Fujitsubo exhaust. It produces 280HP at 6500RPM and 343 N·m (253 lb·ft/35 kgm) at about 5000RPM when both turbos are blowing, as for 0-100 it’s 5.5 secs when it’s cold outside so that more air is compressed. This is my daily car, mine came with STi sport not adjustable suspension that is quite stiff and provides good traction when entering turns at high speed and simply wont let you roll over. As for fuel consumption it needs about 10-11 liters per 100KM in the city when driving gently, and about 7-8 liter on highway. That is because it has quite long transmission and 5th gear is very long, when I was testing top speed, the speed limiter stopped about 185KM/h and I was on 4th gear at abou 4600-5000RPM, so 5th gear will bring you to about 240KM/h. Car is powerful enough to make you look like a boss when you are a bit agressive and won’t let you be late for something.
As for interior , it looks very comfortable with half - leather seats, mine didn’t come with MacIntosh sound system unfortunately but it still provides nice sound, other than that interior looks quite luxury for 2001 year car, you can get outside weather temp, and also car has nice air conditioning system that will save you from dying summer, unfortunately it affects car performance too much.
As for driveline and engine problems, I had none so far, my car just hit 80K Kilometers a few days ago and I didn’t experience any problems with the car. Engine works smoothly has sweet rumble, suspension is quite tough and you won’t break it very easy, even with the bad road conditions my allignment is still intact, I hardly ever hit potholes but nobody is excellent avoiding them you know.
This car is quite dangerous if you are planning this as your first car, although it is AWD and mine came with rear locked differential, it is able to make nice powerslides on wet surface, so you need a lot of practice to fully understand this car. Legacy is a lot heavier than typical impreza but you will good times with this car.
To sum up, this is a powerful AWD car, that can be a nice family car with rally past.
