Bulding/buying my first drift car ! Tips for first car ? Is a e46 330I a good starter ?

Hey guys ! Next year i will build my first drift car, but i do not know what car to buy. I need your help. I do not have many criterias, but here is a few.

Max price of 4000 euro.
Easy access for parts.
Tunable engine(Meaning that i do not have to change a lot for the engines internals if i want to turbo it.)
Not a 200SX(Or 1 180SX/240SX

I have been looking at a e46 330i as a first car. But will it bee enough with around 225 bhp ? I have been thinking of turboing it, if so i would aim for 300-350 bhp, is that i good l place to start off ?

If you have money like sand in your pockets, yes. But E46 330i to get it sideways dependable you need to mod it. And this will be around 10000€ all together, most likely more. I would take a Ford Sierra 2.0 DOHC at first, weld the diff and get started. after your first accidents, maybe then an E36 or E46 as driftweapon.

if i were to buy i 330i i was thinking i could weld the diff, get coilovers and a steering angle kit. an then build on that later. why would i need to spend so much money to get it drifting ? those parts is around 3500 euro here i Norway. I am prepared to use around 7500 on parts i total fought.

That thing sounds brutal, but e36 is better for a first i think. Straightpipe it, 4psi back tires 1.2 psi front, practice makes perfect

E36 is a better option for first drift car. Cheaper parts then e46. And dont get the sierra its low on power and stearing angle is worse then e36 in stock

The main reason why i want e46 i just because i think it looks better. And it has got some more power original.

a e36 325i will cost me about the same as a 330I e46 because it is easier for me to sell parts from i than from a e36. Both cars will cost me around 2800 euro. Would you still buy an e36 ?

If you want a beamer for a drift car I’ve heard a lot going for e30 or e36’s due to the fact that they’re cheap and have a good aftermarket selection but bmw’s can be pricey, maybe I’m biased because I like Japanese cars better
