Abarth 124, according to OmniAuto, should be an italian sexy thing.. but what about the engine?

Here there are some renders from the italian website OmniAuto.it.
There is also an intersting article about this Abarth version of the brand new FCA Spider. The question number one is about the engine: will it have the “normal” 1.4 T-Jet, with more power than the standard version (probably around 200hp), or will it borrow an engine from the Alfa Romeo? And in this case.. will it be the 1750 Tbi from Giulietta Quadrifoglio and 4C, able to emanate 240hp, but needing some modifies to be used as longitudinal engine, or the 2 liters turbo engine from the brand new Giulia, in one of its power steps?
What do you think, CTzens? 1.4, 1.750 or 2.0?

1.75 Litre makes the best sense to me. It’s not that much larger than the 1.4, but you get almost 100bhp more over the base 150 bhp 1.4. Plus it’s not much heaver and can be just as efficient. And let’s not forget DAT SOUNDTRACK of the 4C

The Giulietta Quadrifoglio has a huge torque, and with the weight of the 124, it would be great.

1.4, why would they use any other engine? They will just fine tune exhaust, swap IHI turbocharger for a Garret one, bigger injectors, intercooler, different gear ratios, LSD.

Penso che questa macchina necessita un 1.750. Il 1.4 e un po piccolo. Forse un 2.0 e un po noisoso per una sportiva come questa, adesso no potrà essere veloce nelle curve.

You know what, its an Abarth, lets go over the top and slap that 1.75 in it and throw as many chargers on it that will fit in the engine bay. Push out 300+ horsepower and call it a day.
