10 Classic Pre V8 Supercars Bathurst Moments
Most motorsport fans around the world know about the Bathurst 1000, the premier V8 Supercars event at the famous Mount Panorama circuit that takes place each October. This event is often regarded as the highlight of the Aussie motorsport year and anyone who wins it is an instant legend. It’s the “Holy Grail” of racing Down Under, but the race has a very long history stretching back over 50 years - long before the 5 Litre V8 Supercar formula was introduced in 1993.
This article looks back at some classic moments of the race during the Group C (1973-1984), Group A (1985-1992) and Production Touring (1963-1972) eras before the current V8 Supercars that we know and love were introduced.
The foundations of what we have now were laid a long time ago, and there were some classic races and memories from that earlier period, so sit back and enjoy some great moments.
Hopefully this was informative and interesting. These are only some of the great and not so great things that have happened at The Mountain over time, so if I left something off, I’m sure it probably deserved a mention as well.
