Is this benefitial in any way on a turbocharged engine?

It’s better than a large single throttle body in theory, but its main advantage -the quicker throttle response- is de facto nearly being rendered void by the time the turbocharger needs to spool up. The result is in no reasonable proportion to the cost.

not really it can also be a disadvantage and there are peopel that convert e.g. skyline gtrs to single throttle bodies for big power

Engineering Explained Is it possible to have individual turbochargers for each cylinder if you have individual throttle bodies? It would weigh more but is it possible?

That would stress the engine quite a lot and would be difficult to fit that many turbos in an engine bay.

It’s possible but pointless

You would beed individual runners on the mani that are flanged for each turbo, with a collector of sorts, and even more flanges for indiv. Wastegates. Then downpipes alone would take up an immense ammt of space. Followed by some sort of intercooler with 4inlets, and some way to tune it haha

Also, oil lines, coolant lines etc etc

I don’t know for sure, but it’d probably be near impossible to tune. The minor differences in the turbos would probably cause them to spool at slightly different times, meaning that the cylinders would have different pressures applied, while your MAP is only sensing one of them. I’d guess that at the very least, you’d need a map for each cylinder, and software that would adjust each injector separately. Even then, you might end up blowing up your engine

Engineering Explained so what would be the advantage of ITBs on a turbo charged car (like the setup on an RB26DETT)?

Cable throttle FTW…

He didn’t mention this, probably because it has more to do with tuning, but with ITBs you get more consistent cylinder filling allowing for optimal performance and percise tuning with an advanced ECU.

Huh … when doing throttle both concepts have partial vacuum? All bodies are open during throttle so they are bot similar. Its all about which system has least air frstriction and most cold air. I Think that the single body system shows better results under open throttle … when it matters.

I don’t fully agree with using MAP as the load signal due to being less accurate. i would use TPS/Alpha N with ITBs which I will be doing soon.
