5 cars that the McLaren 570S is wider than
The McLaren 570S is McLaren’s attempt at making an entry level supercar. It would compete against cars from the likes of the Audi R8 and Porsche 911 Turbo. However, just because it is the youngest child, doesn’t mean it’s the smallest. With a width of 82.48” inches, it is wide. Very wide in fact. Even wider than the following
McLaren P1
You read that correctly. A McLaren 570S is wider than a P1. Quite a bit wider actually. To be exact, the 570S is 5.87 inches wider than the hypercar. Keep in mind that the P1 is quicker, more powerful (by a margin enough to swallow a planet) and looks nicer (in my opinion) than the former. But, it is what it is.
Lamborghini Aventador
Yep, that’s not a typo. The “baby” McLaren is wider than the widest wedge on the market. The Aventador comes in at just 79.9” compared to the 570’s 82.5” making it almost 4 inches wider. However, the Aventador can’t even compare to the 570 because it’s insanely cool. A coolness that only comes with Lamborghini’s (even the Urus, you SUV-hating turds out there). One of the last true supercars (the Ferrari 812 SF is not a supercar, it is a GT car) to have a naturally aspirated V12 mounted smack-dab in the middle (and it makes a lovely sound)
Chevrolet Suburban
Kinda ironic with a name like “Suburban” seeing as it’s the size of Capital Hill, but despite it’s size, it’s narrower than a 570S. The big Chevrolet comes in at 80.5” wide, well narrower than the Mac’s 82.5” But the Suburban is mega practical (just don’t think about fuel costs…ever) and it’s got enough space for all the tires your McLaren will be shredding to pieces.
Ford GT
Despite having more power, less height, and more wing, Ford’s race car for the road is about 3.5 inches narrow than the McLaren! But that means it’s nimbler even though it’s longer than by 9 inches. Not to mention it has almost 100 horsepower one McLaren too (650 to 562) and it costs way more ($450,000 to $188,600). Which would you rather have?
Lamborghini Huracan
I love the Huracan. It’s one of those cars that it has a zinginess to it that makes it unique compared to the competition. Coming in at 75.75” the Huracan is almost 10 inches narrower than the 570S, while looking (and sounding) much angrier. Powered by a 5.2L naturally aspirated V10, the Huracan pictured above makes 580 horsepower, making it fair game for the 570S. I personally would take an LP-580-2 over a 570S, just for the fact it has 10 instead of 8, a no hairdryers shoved in the exhaust, and it’s a Lamborghini. Don’t really need much more reason than that.
That’ll wrap things up for this blogpost, I never realized that the 570S was so wide previously, but it is what it is. If you have any suggestions for future blogposts, let me know in the comments below. Also vote on whether you liked this one or not
