Witness The Pure Anger Of Hennessey's 800bhp Shelby Mustang GT350

The Texan tuner has worked its magic on the Shelby Mustang GT350's 'Voodoo' flat-plane crank V8

To crank out 808bhp at 7800rpm and 657 lb ft at 4600rpm from the GT350’s unusual 5.2-litre flat-plane V8, Hennessey threw a predictably wide variety of parts at this car. The enviable shopping list makes up the GT350 ‘HPE800’ kit, centering around a 2.9-litre supercharger but also including forged pistons, forged con-rods, and a carbonfibre high-flow induction kit.

Oh, and as ever we’ve these kits, a set of Hennessey-branded floor mats is included. These will only make the car faster in your mind, I’m afraid.

On the subject of speed, post-conversion Hennessey reckons the GT350 will do 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds, and clock a standing quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds, crossing the line at 133mph.

That’s funny, never seen a mustang pull away without crashing into a crowed of people before.

Call me a blasphemer, but I don’t think that the GT350 neccessarily needs more power. It already does well over 500 bhp while being naturally aspirated, that’s damn impressive. Sure it would be great to lacerate the tarmac with 800 horses, but is that really what the car was intended for in first place? I mean, you wouldn’t build a quarter mile car from an Elise or a Porsche GT3 either, would you?

800hp comes at a price:
800 days
800 000 dollars
and probably also 800 of the parts not even being installed
