This Transformers-Themed Bugatti Veyron Is Not A Robot In Disguise

This one-off Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse was originally ordered new by a Transformers megafan and is now offered for sale

Are you a fan of incredibly mediocre, overproduced action movies with nonsensical plots, excessive product placement and interminable runtimes? Do you also have a likely seven-figure sum to spend on a near-1200bhp hypercar? Then consider this your lucky day.

This is the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse ‘Transformers’, and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Built in 2014, it was personalised by a customer with a deep love for the Transformers film franchise. Can you tell?

Yep, just in case a standard Veyron wasn’t showy enough, this one contains a host of nods to Michael Bay’s, erm… best-loved(?) film franchise. (Yes, we know the Transformers name dates back to a line of toys and a beloved ’80s TV show, but the ad for the car specifically mentions the films). It's worth noting that it just post-dates a Veyron appearing in a Transformers film, with another Grand Sport Vitesse featuring in 2014's Age of Extinction.

The car is extremely blue, with much of the bodywork getting a sort of shattered camo-style livery that we’re going to call ‘distinctive’, and leave it at that. The lower carbon fibre bodywork is finished in dark blue, a shade that’s repeated on the inner parts of the diamond-cut wheels.

That blueness continues on the inside, where the Veyron has contrasting blue and black comfort sports seats. There’s also no missing the enormous Transformers logo set into the firewall between the seats.

Despite their love for the Transformers series, the original owner seems to have tired of the car pretty quickly. It was delivered to the USA in early 2015, but by the end of that year, and having barely covered 500 miles, it was already with a new owner in Europe.

Clearly an equally big Transformers fan, they’ve enjoyed it far more, with the Veyron now having around 3200 miles on the clock. In 2022, it was enrolled into Bugatti’s Passeport Tranquillité maintenance programme for a two-year term. This package is tied to the car, not the owner, meaning that if the next proprieter gets it serviced by the end of August this year, it’ll be free – rather helpful, given what we know about the cost of Veyron parts.

The Grand Sport Vitesse paired the ‘regular’ Veyron Grand Sport’s targa-top convertible body with the record-breaking Super Sport’s 1184bhp engine, meaning a 254mph top speed and 2.6-second 0-62mph dash. 92 Grand Sport Vitesses were made. This one’s being auctioned through the Sotheby’s Sealed online platform, and is probably the only Bugatti around that pays tribute to the work of Hollywood’s biggest lens flare enthusiast – unless there’s a Bad Boys Chiron somewhere that we don’t know about.
