The Solution To Traffic Is Simple, But I Guarantee You'll Hate It

Traffic is unavoidable due to many factors out of our control - people who drive too fast, people who drive too slowly, BMW drivers... - but there is one simple solution to end all solutions. You're not going to like it though

Can you imagine how terrifying it would be to go on a driver less car crossing an intersection with no lights?

Here are some other suggestions you stupid monkeys:

  • don’t drive slow on the left lane. No I don’t care what the speed limit is, if the guy to your right is faster, you need to move.
  • avoid left turns. Sure sometimes you don’t have a choice, but if you do, even if it means a detour, try not to do left turns.
  • Get off your stupid phone. No, its not urgent, no I don’t care who it is, just don’t. NO BLUETOOTH, just don’t.
  • Don’t break if not necessary. just get off the gas, you don’t need to tap the brakes each time, if there is nothing directly in front of you, and you get scared, just get off the gas.
  • Use the entire merge lane, no merging early is not better, it is worse for everyone.

Following this logic: Why not just kill all humans on earth and leave robots which are programmes to lead perfect lives. No traffic jams, no wars, no political or social issues, no inequality, no poverty or diseases, just robots doing stuff humans used to do, but better

Watching this video made me feel better about myself as a driver. I always try to accelerate from a red light at the same pace as the car ahead, thus leaving more space behind myself. And reading the road ahead is key to making that snake from the video die a miserable death. When somebody brakes a few cars ahead of me, I either just coast towards it or maintain my speed, based on the situation. Thus, I reduce the amount of braking the driver behind me has to do. Moreover, fuel consumption is noticeably improved by driving like this.

I love how no one considers the maintenance of these autonomous cars as well… if you took 100 of the same year make model everything, and compared them 2 or 3 years down the road, they would all have different performances in every category, from acceleration to braking, and in order for that system to work it would need to know essentially what the weakest car is, because that would set the flow of traffic for the given area around it
