The New BMW M5 Is A Relative Bargain For Americans
The BMW M5’s US pricing has been revealed, apparently showing how much of a good deal the country is getting.
Compared to £89,640 in the UK and €117,900 – a hefty £104,688 – in Germany, the US will land the newly four-wheel drive uber-saloon for a tidy $102,900 – equivalent to just £77,652.
That price also makes it a gnat’s kneecap cheaper in the States than the similarly bonkers Mercedes-AMG E63 S, which weighs in at $104,400.
The price was revealed by a Texan man on a Bimmerpost forum, who has placed an order using his military discount. The 10 per cent cut means his 592bhp car’s pre-options price is around $92,000 – £69,427 at today’s exchange rates.
He posted the order sheet for the car, detailing how the likes of metallic paint, Dynamic Damper Control, a heated steering wheel and a universal garage door-opener are all standard.
Special metallic colours are $1950, full Merino leather for the interior is $3500 and the First Edition package is $18,300. That comes with the M Sport exhaust, 20-inch M wheels, Apple CarPlay and a Bowers & Wilkins stereo system.
There are, of course, plenty of options to throw money at, if the mood takes you, like night vision with pedestrian detection, carbon ceramic brakes and Plum Brown Wood Trim. Wait… plums are brown?

I hope America doesn’t get ripped off with lack of horsepower like previous ///M models.
That happened before?
We live in a world where apple carplay is apart of a $18,000 option package in a German Luxury car and free in most mini economy cars
Welcome to the 21st century. Nothing makes sense here
But u get the M exhaust,so it doesnt
Nah Carplay is available on its own like tho
As much as I love BMW (would have leased a new 530e if I end up in a warmer state), the $300 extra just for Apple CarPlay is just ridiculous (especially if you are purchasing a $60k vehicle and it is something built into the system already), that is just pure pettiness.
£77,652 for the M5?
Don’t worry once first UK buyers drive out of the dealership, you will be able to get one for like £60k with only 1000 miles on the clock
German car depreciation ftw
Or just buy three E60s…

Kudos to BMW for having a Military discount. Some stores in the states dont, and its nice to see that car companies can support the troops, even if its not their own.
Well, if you look in the past they did more than discounts for their own troops…
I don’t see why someone should get a discount on a luxury super-saloon because they served. A normal car yes, but an M5?
But, but why is the price different in the first place?
Because of different economies. Just going by raw exchange rate is a pretty terrible way to go about things.
Comparing exchange rate is 99% of the time a crappy way of dealing with things. You need to look at purchasing power of a country and its individual economy.
But even then, you’ve missed one VERY important fact:
UK pricing includes all taxes, delivery, admin charges et al IN the sticker price. Without all of that applied we only pay £72,000 for the base car, vs the £77,000 of the USA.
Add taxes, tag, title etc. to the M5 somewhere like Pennsylvania (purely because I have a friend that lives there and was able to ask him) and you have a final price of:
($102,900 * 6%) +955 +36 + = £110,105 / £84,500-ish
So £5k difference. Not nearly £12k. Depending on exchange rate, this can go up or down, hence why exchange rate comparison is dreadful.
Also, the PDF links to your local hard disk. Might want to fix that.
Aah! No wonder Fortune Valley is in USA.
But hey, the Americans protect us (Latvia), I think they deserve it.
