McLaren is a supercar manufacturer that is making a comeback to the road car automotive scene, after collaborating with Mercedes-Benz on vehicles like the SLR McLaren.
Mercedes has gone off on its own with the SLS AMG and McLaren has other plans, introducing the like the MP4-12C, a car aimed right at Ferrari.
McLaren has primarily been a motorsports company as well, which would mean there is a possibility that a special racing version of the production road car could be put on the track, much in the way Porsche does with the GT3 R.
However, we haven't got an official confirmation, much less a glimpse of what such a vehicle would look like yet. That is where these renderings come in, showing us the MP4-12C in full racing specification.
These renderings are produced by designer Jon Sibal. Unlike previous MP4-12C GTR renderings that he has done, these particular renderings are of the longtail model, which has additional bodywork to improve aerodynamics.
It looks pretty smart we'd say. No idea if this is in McLaren's plans, but it makes a whole lot of sense to us. You can check out more of the designer's renderings at his website JonSibal.com.
