Lamborghini Revuelto SV Teased as it Sets Hockenheim Lap Record

Rumours and spy shots of the Lamborghini Revuelto SV have been floating around the internet for a while, but Lambo has now given us an official glimpse at it via the announcement that it’s set a production car lap record at a German racetrack. No, not that one…

The circuit in question is former F1 venue Hockenheim, and for what it’s worth, that record time is 1:41.6 in the hands of Lamborghini test driver Marco Mapelli. This, frankly, is academic, given there are about six people on earth who are interested in the Hockenheim production car record, but it gives us our best look yet at the harder, faster Revuelto ahead of its proper reveal next week.

SV, in Lambo parlance, stands for Super Veloce (‘Super Fast’. Everything sounds better in Italian, etc., etc.), and it’s appeared on every big V12 flagship Lambo except the Countach. We don’t know exactly what changes are coming for the Revuelto SV, but given that the standard car already develops a combined 1,001bhp from its pairing of 6.5-litre V12 and three electric motors, will hit 62mph in a quoted 2.5 seconds and tops out at 217mph, we’re not sure how much more super veloce it can get.

What we can make out on this barely disguised prototype are the expected aero enhancements: a more aggressive front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser and a large fixed rear wing that appears to take the place of the standard car’s active spoiler. There’s also a roll cage visible in the prototype, although this might just be in place for track testing. A modest power bump and a series of chassis upgrades are par for the SV course too, so expect those.

Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann has this to say about the SV: “Every element of the car has been developed with the goal of taking performance to an even higher level, enhancing the driving engagement and emotion that have always defined our brand. The record achieved at the Hockenheimring is the result of this approach and demonstrates how innovation, technology and engineering expertise can be translated into tangible, measurable results.”

Meanwhile, lap record setter Mapelli says: “The extraordinary harmony between car and driver allows you to exploit its full potential, inspiring precision and confidence even at the limit. It is exactly this combination of performance, control and driver engagement that enabled us to achieve this result.” Sounds promising.
