This Is How Angry A Future Subaru WRX STI Might Look

You’ll remember the recent Subaru Viziv Performance concept; the one that previews the next WRX. Well, they’ve only gone and beefed it up for an STI version.

We already knew it was planned, but now there’s a teaser image of the concept’s sharp lines and fiercer bodywork.

The rear of the non-STI Viziv Performance is already pretty aggressive...

The updated concept will be on display at the Tokyo Motor Show. It has a new front bumper, new side sill extensions, a traditional STI big rear wing and a few hidden secrets.

Prime among those is what the engine will be like. It’s going to be a hybrid, sure, but with what kind of internal combustion element? We understand the engine will be downsized, but that it should maintain the flat-four configuration.

Either way, we’re going to miss the rudeness of the current one.

I’ll be properly upset if they get rid of the boxer engine. Yeah, well done, the EJ257 was WAY overdue to die, but at least there still is the FA20F in the current WRX in Japan, the US and Australia and the Ascent has an upsized version of this engine (new FA24)
