Getting Smashed By An Oversteering Tank Must Really Spoil Your Drive Home

Military convoys use the roads, and it's usually cool to see armour making its way between bases or to exercises, but when a badly-steered self-propelled missile launcher smashes into you, you're going to have a bad time

Picture the scene: you’re just going about your business in your Russian homeland, when a tank oversteers wildly into your driver’s door. That’s the sort of thing that can spoil your afternoon, and it’s exactly what happened to this poor Skoda Yeti driver.

A military convoy of what looks like self-propelled missile launchers was making a 90-degree turn onto a busy main road, but one driver seems to have his mind on his dinner and forgets to steer until it’s too late, over-correcting and swinging the rear of the tank into the side of the Yeti, flicking it across the road like it was made of cardboard. The visible soldier on top gives a little wave… and then they drive off.

So, if you managed to drive to and from work today without being hit by a tank, consider yourself lucky.

How do you manage to get a tank to oversteer

Left track going much faster than the right track, then the speeds of the tracks neutralise halfway through the turn. That’s my theory

That’s a new definition of “tank slap”

The yeti driver should ‘tank’ his lucky stars if no one was injured

Going to play devil’s advocate here, but I’d guess the soldier that waved was a spotter, and the wave was a “Oh FFS!”, frustratingly lifting and dropping his arm back down.

It did look like the tank aimed towards the side of the road, and the following tank appeared to stop, so hopefully if the video was longer, we’d have seen the soldiers stay on the scene
