The Dodge Demon Will Set You Back $84,995, With Options From $1

FCA has released the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's MSRP and detailed all its options, available from $1

Like the look of that angry 840bhp Challenger SRT Demon Dodge recently whipped up and relentlessly teased? We now know how much it’ll set you back: $84,995, including ‘gas guzzler’ tax and destination charge.

Quite a lot of money for a Challenger, I’m sure you’ll agree, but the more we think about it, the more we reckon the $20,000 premium you’re expected to pay over the Hellcat is actually damn good value for money.

For starters, we’re talking about a car with an enormously powerful supercharged 6.2-litre V8 that’ll catapult you to from 0-62mph in 2.3 seconds. It’s officially the world’s fastest quarter-mile production car, dispatching the benchmark run in just 9.65 seconds at 140mph.

Then you have to think about all that engineering porn that was teased in the weeks leading up the car’s reveal. It has a heavily upgraded driveline, the first ever factory-fitted trans-brake, a charge cooler fed by the air conditioning, and much more besides. $84,995 for all that? If I wasn’t an impoverished journalist living on the wrong continent, I’d be giving Dodge a call right now.

You can - of course - inflate that price with options. Some only cost $1 - because that’s more headline-grabbing than having them as no cost options, presumably. These consist of:

  • The ‘Demon Crate’ package, with $6140-worth of components including skinny front-runner drag wheels, a performance powertrain control module, conical performance air filter and a whole host of Demon-branded tools

  • A front passenger seat (the Demon is a single-seater as standard)

  • A rear seat, available in either leather or cloth

  • A boot carpet kit

There are some options which will set you back a little more, however. First off, leather/Alcantara heated and ventilated seats are available for $1595, an upgraded Harmon Kardon audio system is $995, or if you combine both in one pack it’s $2495.

If you want to spruce up the outside of your Demon, the bonnet can be painted satin black for £1995, or there’s the option of a graphics package including the bonnet paint for $3495. The priciest option is a power sunroof at $4995.

The Demon is available in 15 colours, including Plum Crazy, Go Mango, Destroyer Grey and Octane Red.

In news which may placate those who think the Demon is just too fast, Dodge has also announced that all owners will receive a whole day’s tuition at Bob Bondurant School of High-performance Driving. A nice little extra to go with the three year, 36,000 mile warranty.

Tempted?

I’ll take one in Plum Crazy, Demon Crate, special order with a shaker hood and then fit a national level roll cage, Recaro race seat, 6 point racing harness and a steering wheel you’d see in a typical drag car…then I’d buy a car trailer

The Shakee hood wouldn’t work with a Supercharger though and would screw up the cooling.

That’s a great price. Under 100k for a 9 second drag car.
