Clarkson: Everyone Likes The Grand Tour "Except The BBC, Weirdly”

In an interview with CNN this week, Clarkson touched upon the BBC's more negative reception of the show, and dismissed Netflix's claims about how much Grand Tour is costing Amazon Prime

It’s pretty clear that following Clarkson, Hammond and May’s departure from the BBC there’s a lot of animosity between the Corporation and the ex-Top Gear trio. Clarkson recently called out the BBC for an “appalling” lack of support during his TG tenure, and on the BBC’s side - well, who can forget that super awkward interview where the three presenters were called ‘middle-aged’ multiple times?

The negative reception he’s referring to in this interview is most likely the scathing review from the BBC’s Will Gompertz, which I’d like to point out was much meaner than mine. Just in case anyone is still holding a grudge….

Elsewhere in the interview, Clarkson also referred to comments from Netflix boss Ted Sarandos, who claimed Amazon paid even more for the show than had been reported.

While declining to go into specifics, the 56-year-old said: “Amazon spent far less than Netflix would have you believe….It’s nowhere near as expensive as people have been saying.”

The grand tour is good but it’s just not as good as the old top gear I think it’s because of it’s not in England and it’s in America and the crowds are different to please

Why is it a big deal that they were called middle-aged? That’s like being called younger than they are…
