The 4500hp Devel Sixteen Is One Step Closer To Reality
Remember the Devel Sixteen monstrosity? The one that looked like it was made out of cardboard for a school project? Well, it’s back, and it’s angry.
It has made another appearance with massively modified bodywork at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show. The insane-sounding quad-turbo 12.3-litre V16, which hauls out over 4500 horses according to this dyno test, is still an option at the top of the range for people who’d like to die on a racetrack, but there are less silly versions, too.
Whereas the V16, at the crudest point of inception, is two V8s locked together, there are 2000-horsepower and 3000-horsepower versions of just one of the V8s. Yep, the entry-level Devel Sixteen (would it be called the Devel Eight?) has the power of two Bugatti Veyrons. Two.
All that power will take the 16-cylinder car to 310mph or more, we’re led to believe. As always, we’ll believe it when we see it. We can imagine that speed like that will make judging your braking points on track slightly trickier than usual…
Cornering might be awkward, too. It seems to lack crucial downforce at the back, even if it has ground-effect. If an old Koenigsegg CCX without a rear wing will spit The Stig off the Top Gear Track, a 4500-pony hypercar cobbled together in Dubai certainly will. At much, much higher speed.
Somehow the interior of the car is still under development. Devel doesn’t yet seem to be run with the kind of ruthless efficiency you find in most car makers. The interior looks surprisingly spacious at the moment, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Devel may make all the power, but it’s still got everything to prove.

Wait a minute… If Hennessey is betting on getting the Venom F5 to 300mph with 1500hp, how is this only estimated to be just 10mph faster with 3000 more hp? 🤔
The actual speed they quoted is 354 mph or 570 kmph. Not sure why pick that number of all the numbers but who knows. Considering the shape of it, its likely to go that fast… however the question of tyres still remains. Also the front and rear lights look ugly. 😛
Probably can’t find a long enough track to test it
Leave It for Engineering Explained
I quote: “Cars will get uglier and more expensive in the future. The future’s bright, but the future has faster cars.”
I actually was personally excited about this car from the beginning. No matter how far they go, they will have my support & best wishes. Respect.
V16
16 for the cylinders
and also amount of times this will probably be called a lamborghini by some non car guy
Absolutely no one can confuse this tumor of a car with anything else, let alone a lambo
The engine is up to it, but the actual car isn’t.
I’ve been standing against extreme horsepower as long as i can remember.
But every now and then another clown car comes out to claim the “fastest car” or “more whp than any other”…
I appreciate the fact we are living in an era that mankind started creating “supercars”.
BUT
There is one thing noone has ever done with these ridiculus “cars”, ever. When you hit 400km/h, try to take a slight corner, just the tiniest of corners in a safe enviroment-track.
Cars that are created but cant be used on the roads of this planet, are not cars, they are clownish ways to spend money.
The truth has been spoken.
Track-only cars?
You’re missing the point, if you have a car with 1500hp you don’t have to use it all the time…… Just knowing that you have that much power at your command makes you feel awesome.. It’s the fact that the car is hard to control which makes you feel so much better when you do
Just like on the track, there will come a time when technology can make cars only so fast, after which all there will be left is the skill of the driver in order to gain more speed.
It will need a quantum supercomputer for traction control
or a rev limiter..?
How much will it weigh tho? That is the question that will make or break it
and the drag ratios would be lovely
Only Arabs will buy it.
Doubt.
