“The regulations are a little ridiculous. Tyre limits, fuel consumption limits, aren’t there a certain number of engine limits? Like an engine has to last a few races? Or there are only X number of engine allotted per year?
“Come on nobody cares about that stuff. Engines have to last a race and that’s it, tyre limits are gone, fuel consumption put at max so they can do whatever they’d like. Want an anti-lag system? Go right ahead.
“Make it fun! Make it exciting! I’ll bet you anything the average Formula 1 viewer doesn’t have a chart at home going anorak voice “oooooh this driver only went through 4.768 sets of tyres this race when the average was 4.798!” Nobody cares and numbers like that aren’t exciting.
“What is exciting is ever faster lap times and noise levels. There’s hardly any innovation in the sport anymore compared to the 70s or 80s.”

Just watch rallycross, way more exiting

oh i know, they should make an open wheel rally series called : THE GROUP B, REBORN

And so much cheaper to go and watch, the world rallycross round 4 is being held at Lydden hill in may and it’s a damn sight cheaper to watch them than F1, you also see the whole track rather than 1 corner

Suggestion #2 is amazing. Extreme, but it has conviction, it has pizzaz! I appreciate that

The best suggestion is number 2.

Number 11 reminds me of what Clarkson once suggested for the British Touring Car Championship:
Just before the lights go green they should torch all the cars and make it the Burning Touring Car Championship.
The winner is the fastest survivor.

Or, make it MADMAX style and have f1 cars with guns and light bars and stuff like that.

I guess with machine guns you don’t want to be on pole for too long.. should make for a crazy dash on the last corner! I guess they could scrap the thong as well.. or keep it just to be ironic. “We added protection against debris…. and then we added machine guns.”

Slowly coming to the realisation that we live in a world where both excitement and danger is being taken away from our control. it starts with innovation for our protection then turns into innovation for castration, every bit of fun will soon be zapped from us so we all end up having to stare at computer screens more and live to exist rather than exist to live.

Ground effect, wider tyres and therewith more power (v12) that’s what we all want)

There used to be so much inovation in this sport that made it awesome bit i nowadays i just wonder why they even have these many regulations….especially beacause sth like the ground effect would technically make it safer providing more downforce

The issue is when they get air (jump) and the ground effects don’t have an effect. That is when you get flying cars. The fan cars thing was banned after other companies saw the potential, and didn’t want to get elliminated from the competition, so they petitioned for a ban.

What about we take an empty bomb shell stuff a v12 in there and add some wheels or a bathtub and do the same.

I’m all fine and dandy with engine, transmission and fuel limitations, but the rest? JUST LET THEM GO NUTS!!! Ground effects, fans, bigger tires, more wheels, whatever… Let them INNOVATE and let them RESEARCH and DEVELOP. That’s what Formula 1 has been, a benchmark for progress in the automotive world.
