Opel omega shift knob. How do i remove it?

Mine is cracked and a piece of the (leather?) shifter fell off..
Was thinking about just removing it and getting an aftermarked shifter to replace it with.. It has that “pull up to select reverse” thing under the ball.. Is it just a twist off or is it more complicated?

It’s a 2000 Opel Omega B wagon.

Also would an iron cross shift knob fit the look of the car or is it too tacky?

Don’t kill me if you damage you fine Opel:
I think you have to get a screwdriver, then lurk up the ‘’plate’’ with the numbers on, and then just take it from there.
It’s a complete guess, so i’m much likely to be wrong

Only problem i have with the original one is that it’s broken.. And instead of searching junkyards for parts, i want an aftermarket one.. Any suggestions what would look cool?

The opel omega gear lever does not twist off.. You need to remove the whole lever and replace it to a stock one.. There is no option to put a custom knob to it. Under the leathery feeling plastic knob is a 1 inch thick cylinder and the pull up for reverse thing goes inside it.. You can’t unscrew it since it’s pinned in.

I can’t install a custom gear knob to it.. This sucks…
I might make one out of wood and carve it out so two pieces are screwed together over the thing..
