LMP vs DP?

With the Daytona 24 approaching, would it be possible to get a comparison between Daytona Prototype and Le Mans Prototype?

One is made to drive at Daytona one is made to drive at Le Mans

I love the cars at Daytona but LMP1s are much faster and more technologically advanced. If a DP were to drive on Circuit de la Sarthe it would be about 25 seconds slower and if an LMP1 were to race on the Daytona Road Course it would probably be 11 seconds faster. LMP2 however should be very close to the performance of a DP car (probably a bit slower.) The LMP1s at Le Mans fly past the LMGTE cars under any condition but if you saw Petit Le Mans last year you would know that the DPs are equally as fast as the GTLM cars under heavy rain.

Cool. Thanks! I currently have limited knowledge of American endurance racing and I’m trying to get more into it.

I was at Petit LM last year! 8 1/2 hours of standing out in the rain before the race was cut short, but it was worth it. Some amazing battles throughout the field, and John Edwards’s heroic charge for the GTLM title, one that came down to the final few laps. Definitely will be going back next year.
