Ireland 1900km Roadtrip- In an Audi TT with 3 Persons
Hi guys
Last week i had my reading week and what would be better than a road trip through Ireland. My friends from Germany come to visit me and like me they wanted to see the amazing landscapes in Ireland. But we had one little problem….my car.
It is and Audi TT 1.8t with 225hp, 19 Inch wheels ( problem number 1 ) and a lower suspension ( problem number 2 ).
Some of you know maybe that the TT is a 2+2 seater and not the best Car for 3 people for long journeys. But we try it and it was okay for them i guess to sit in the back ( i was driving all the time ) so we started to an amazing Road-trip.
The Road- trip had everything… amazing roads amazing landscapes and make an amazing damage at my car.
DAY 1
Well the first day was not the perfect start. After 30km i hit a pothole and we had to call the AA /ADAC. The wheel and the tire was broken and we had to repair it in the afternoon. After that we drove form Dublin to Belfast and spend the night in a very cool hostel.
DAY 2
We drove early in the morning from Belfast to the Giant’s Causeway and to the Rope bridge in Northern Ireland. The landscape was amazing and the roads where in a very good condition. After that we drove to Derry to stay in a hostel for a night. The hostel was not the best, but Derry is a very nice town with a lot of historic buildings.
DAY 3
We drove early in the morning from Derry to Malin Head. Marlin Head is the most northern point in Ireland and it was amazing. After that we had to hurry up because the goal was for the day Galway in the west of Ireland. We didn’t drove directly to Galway. We drove through Connemara and to the cost. That was one of the most amazing landscapes i have ever saw. The Roads were not the best and the problems started with the car. The car was to low for the roads and i hit sometimes with the body of the car the road ( every time i cried xD ). In the evening we arrived Galway and found a good hostel in the middle of the town.
DAY 4
For thad Day the first goal was to see the Cliffs of Moher. It takes form Galway 1.5h and the roads were okay. Amazing cliffs but to many tourist. After that we drove to Killarney and drove the around the Ring of Kerry. Amazing landscape as well but the weather was not the best. We found a nice hostel in Killarney next to the national park.
DAY 5
We drove to the national park and walked to the tonic waterfall. We stayed there for like 2-3 hours and it was a nice place to be. After that we drove to Cork. My personally highlight was in Cork a TVR 3000m . I saw it in a car park, lovely car. The weather was s** so we just ate something and moved on to drove back to Dublin.
So what can i say about the Roadtrip. 5 Days are not enough to see Ireland. I will never make a Road trip again with a Car with a lower suspension. In the back the springs are broken and one wheel and one tire are broken, too. Ireland is a beautiful country with horrible roads. I always thought it was just a big joke about the roads, but it’s the truth ^^. We meet some very nice people and it was a big fun to drive through Ireland. The TT was maybe not the best choice for the Road-trip, but i am happy that i did it with the TT, it surprised me how economical the car is ( 7.5-8.2L on 100km ) and how much fun it was to drive it.
I am pretty sure i will come back in the summer, but not with the TT, next time i will drive with my mx5 and without a lower suspension.
I hope you enjoyed my first blog and i hope you could understand it, english is not my native language. I hope we see us on the roads ;)

I didn’t know there was even 1900 km² in Ireland. Just kidding, Bud.
we took the long way xD
Amazing roads/landscapes. Ireland really is beautiful, I had the chance to work with some Irish guys last year. One from Belfast and the other from Dublin, great country 👍
