Ford Fiesta or Volvo C30?

Whilst looking for a first car with a budget of £5’000 at the young age of 17 I did so much research and went for the C30. With sporty R-Design looks, a 125bhp 1.8L engine and a chassis from the Fiestas older brother, the Focus, I really don’t understand why people go for the Fiesta when there are honestly better cars out there for the same price.

Tell me what you fellow CTzens think and what hatch you would get for that money?

oh and up vote the car you prefer in the comment just so I know what you guys prefer.

I swaped C30 1,6d for Fiesta st150 and Im really glad I did so. Engine in C30 was terrible and pretty expensive parts too. Similar to BMW etc…interior was way nicer, but thats pretty much it.

I drive within the limit for 2 reasons.
1) Speed and racing is for the track. Im getting a Renault Clio from copart and taking it trackdays.
2) Fuel consuption xD

I do occasionally have fun but all being safe. Honestly, iv been in a situation in a 5.5L Mercedes and don’t want to repeat it, even if it is in a Volvo.

I have the C30’s larger sibling, the V50 because I am personally a huge wagon fan and love the mini-V70 looks of the V50, especially because my dad has a V70…I have the 2.4i petrol engine since we don’t get anything smaller in the states…168 hp isn’t fast but it keeps me out of trouble well enough and makes the parents happy, so I’m good with it…it makes me feel better as well when I see classmates driving hateful PT Cruisers and Chevy Aveos and knowing that my V50 is infinitely more comfortable, handles better, and more sophisticated for probably the same price, if not lower…that and I get to avoid all the haughtiness that comes with driving a BMW and the repair bills are lower as well!
