Ford Crown Victoria. Police Interceptor or LX
What is it like to drive an old cop car? When you’re not getting stared at and caught behind drivers going 5 under the speed limit it is one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had. Initially this boat on wheels isnt much to think about, but once you start getting into its history and reputation you realize how special this car is.
I have owned 2 Crown Victoria’s, a 2004 grandpa mobile and my current 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, and let me tell you, this is one of the most comfortable happy rides there is.
Its heavy
Its big
it gets bad gas mileage
But, It is one of the most reliable and tough cars out there, you see crown victorias driving around with 600k + miles without a complaint, Mine personally spent 100k miles as a cop car, and ive spent the last 20k racing and the only thing I have had to replace was the oil. Its an american workhorse that doesn’t die and doesnt give up.
Naturally for a car that weighs 4000 pounds and has 250 horsepower its no sports car, but with a little work you can make them fast, the same 4.6 sohc engine as the mustang there are tons of mods available and tons of options, making the crown victoria a true sleeper car from everything to road racing to drag racing.
And the best part?
They are CHEAP, I got my 2008 for only $3900 dollars, and they are only getting cheaper, the perfect car for a kid who loves a v8 and isnt bathing in money.
I will always stand by the Crown Victoria, you have to drive it to appreciate it, and when you do drive it, you will always like it.

v8 and “isn’t bathing in money” dont really go in the same sentence. Lot of money spent on gas when he just wants toy around to the movies, mall, etc..
I do like your write up!
Point being its a excellent car for someone who loves v8 but doesnt have much money, and if you dont drive like a teenager you can average 18 or 19 with a vic, depends on gearing.
Great review! If you email us your address to teamct@carthrottle.com we can send you a CT package!
Okay just shoot you an email?
That is an awesome car! For some reason that I can’t figure out, I love big Panther sedans. The P71 is my personal favourite, with the Town Car and the Marauder following closely behind it.
Once you drive one you’ll love it forever
