You basically described how it felt to own my 09 Impreza.
It’s noisy, very very noisy (my 87 VW is quieter and more refined) , the fuel economy was a pitiful joke, there’s no power until you get past 3500rpm, and despite mine not having a turbo (just a plain Jane Impreza base model), there’s throttle input lag because of that STUPID drive by wire gas pedal.
It’s nice to know Subaru literally changed nothing in 7 years.
It also solidifies the fact that I REALLY want a Focus RS.

I like that you feel the same way about the wrx. The sti is nearly $10k more expensive, but it’s not that much better. And if you want a good track car, 10 grand will buy you a lot of nice mods.

Twin scroll turbos are NOT new tech. Twinscroll VF36 and VF37 models have been around since the late 90’s. The hatchback STi’s didn’t sell very well which is why the coupes were phased out at the end of 2001. Worldwide market appeal not just the US market. Comparing the STI sedan to the STi wagon is like complaining that you can’t load mulch in the back of your Outback like you could in your Baja. In terms of the rear wing, you can get one with a smaller wing, just saw one the other day, why didn’t you mention that? Otherwise some pretty decent points.

Heh I just traded my 2013 STi hatch for a 2016 FXT for this reason, more room, better economy and cheaper on the pocket + FA20DIT engine and better mpg.
