is the 3.0l v6 in the 3rd gen eclipse gt reliable? or would going for the gs trim with the 4g motor be better. I dont plan to add serious power mods and am looking into it as a daily driver.
I would say yes, but I’ve only had the car for a few weeks so do I really know yet? I use it as my daily (I’m also a delivery driver so I drive a LOT) and it is just lovely. I would go with the gt (or the gts (which I have) for that extra 10 hp) just for the sound and feel of it.
They’re both good engines, it’s just if you want better fuel economy or more power. The 6G72 is smooth as silk though.
a few things. the 4 cyl get the same MPG as the v6, so MPG is negligible. the v6 has a lot more torque than the I4, but both are very reliable engines if maintained and you’re not bouncing off the rev limiter.
