Predictions for the C7 Corvette ZR1

First, the engine

A leaked document says the Corvette gets a DOHC V8 which could be the ZR1. By switching from OHV to DOHC, it allows more valves to be in place and make it more efficient and powerful

Reports are saying that the ZR1 could be making anywhere from 700-900 horsepower. Which at an estimated starting price of $100,000-$150,000 is probably the best horsepower per dollar on the market. With a large wing and body kit, this won’t be your ordinary Corvette. The previous ZR1 didn’t look too different from the Z06 which could’ve made it a perfect sleeper.

Next is the handling and grip

It’s rumored that the ZR1 will also receive a 7 speed manual or an 8 speed automatic (like the Z06). However, a 10 speed automatic is a possibility as well. What I think they are going to do is make it an extreme Z06 (before you start hating lemme explain). With the previous ZR1, (As top gear showed) it was a handful in the corners

However, to handle all that power, lots of grippy stuff and handling parts are needed. Which is probably why it has a big wing and a redesigned front and rear bumpers. Stupid wide tires are most likely coming too. I’m guessing 285s on the front and 375s on the rear. In reality it’ll probably be something like 295s front and 355s rear. To put that into perspective the current Z06 has 285/30R19s front and 335/25R20s in the rear. A larger surface means more contact with the road to put all the power down. With the ZR1, it’ll (hopefully) have more cornering capability (not that the old one didn’t). The Nurburgring time to beat for the ZR1 would be a 6:59.13 set by the current Z06 (video will be coming soon I read)

I’ve got a feeling that when a ZR1 does go around the Nurburgring it will be close to holding the fastest production car record for a while.

Next, the competition

Thr competition I believe is high class supercars (Ferrari F12, Lamborghini Aventador) and some low end hypercar territory too (Zenvo ST1, GTA Spano)

To summarize

The C7 ZR1 will have stupid amounts of power for stupid amounts of speed and have stupid wide tires and a stupid large wing and cost stupidly low compared to its rivals. I hoe you enjoyed this #blogpost by McLaren 570GT and have a nice day :)
