The Holy Trinity of People Carrier in Indonesia-Toyota Kijang,Isuzu Panther,And Mitsubishi Kuda

Hello guys.And welcome to my #blogpost .Today i will tell you about the holy trinity of people carrier in Indonesia
Let’s start

Introduction

As you know.Indonesians love people carriers.Since Indonesians mostly drive with famillies.And that was the factor that what makes MPVs sold well in Indonesia.That includes the 3 cars that i mentioned before.All three cars was so famous (Especialy Kijang) because of Durability.Comfort.Etc.

Toyota Kijang

Toyota Kijang was officially launched in 1975.But the real passenger Kijang was made in 1986.For more information about Kijang.Go check my previous Blogpost here

The comparation with Isuzu Panther was started on this generation.But the Kijang was sold better than Panther because it’s durability.
In 1997.The Kijang was given change in it’s styling

The fourth generation Kijang was launched in 1997.With more aerodynamic look.And also.In this generation.The Kijang gets a new competitor.That is the Mitsubishi Kuda.
This generation was stayed until it was replaced by Kijang Innova in 2004.
Now.The Kijang Innova was in the second generation.The comparation still goes on.But without Panther that never restyled.The Kijang Innova is the winner.Obviously

Isuzu Panther

The Isuzu Panther was launched in 1991.To compete with Toyota Kijang.But.It was outsolded by Toyota Kijang because of it’s tested reability.Thus the Panther is only avaliable with Diesel engine option.But the Diesel engine was so fuel efficient that even you only to fill up $4 of fuel (At the time.The fuel price in Indonesia was so cheap that even you only need one dime to get a liter of fuel) to go from Jakarta to Bali (1.193Km).At least that’s the ad says

Then in 2000.Panther change the styling into an more aerodynamical look.It was a bit too late since Kijang has changed his look into a more aerodynamical look in 1997 and the Mitsubishi Kuda was launched on 1999.Today.The Panther still exists.But the Panther was never given an new model change.So Panther was unable to compete with Kijang Innova

Mitsubishi Kuda

The Mitsubishi Kuda was launched on 1999.It was the answer from Mitsubishi to compete with Toyota Kijang and Isuzu Panther.It has 3 engine options including 2 petrol engines.4G18.4G63A.And a diesel engine 4D56.It was discontinued in Indonesia at 2005 and it’s succesor.Mitsubishi Xpander was launched on Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2017
