My dad was at the Rallye de Portugal in 1986. He hiked through the mountains for three or four hours with his friends to see the race from the mountain, and he saw five or six cars go by before the RS200 crashed into the crowd. He wasn’t near where it happened (he says he wasn’t even a kilometer away from the accident), but what was weird was that he said, “the way people are standing on the outside of the curb with no barriers, if there is an accident, people are going to get hurt.”
Group B was the ultimate Era for dying - as a spectator or driver.
And that was the reason why it was so exciting!!!
