When we drove the Zenos E10 S a few months ago, one thing was abundantly clear: despite looking very serious, it’s not something that’ll terrify you. That’s something I like about it: it’s all very approachable and thrilling without making you feel like the Grim Reaper is waiting for you at the next corner.

However, some people rather like that sort of thing, so how about an E10 with more punch? Well, that’s now here in the form of a new version: the E10 R.

Like the E10 and E10 S, the R sticks with Zenos’ sensible practice of using Ford engines. This time around, it’s the 2.3-litre Ecoboost, the same sort of lump you’ll find in the new Ford Mustang and the incoming Focus RS. Thanks to a bespoke ECU, it produces 350bhp and 349lb ft of torque, which gives the E10 R a power-to-weight ratio of 500bhp/tonne.

That’s not far off what you get in an original Bugatti Veyron, and it makes the E10 R seriously fast. 0-60mph takes just three seconds, ahead of its 155mph top speed. And don’t worry, if you don’t fancy wearing a full face helmet or having your face destroyed by air at 150mph, an optional windscreen is available as per the E10 and E10 S.

It has beefier brakes than the E10 S, plus adjustable suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers. The price for all this? £39,995, plus on-the-road fees. Tempted?
