Here's How The Toyota GR Supra Concept Looks Without The Wings

The GR Supra Racing concept is best thought of as the production version with added motorsport bits, so what does it look like when you take them off?
Here's How The Toyota GR Supra Concept Looks Without The Wings

We may have been a little disappointed that the Geneva Motor Show didn’t include the big Supra reveal we’ve been waiting for, but Toyota’s ‘GR Supra Racing Concept‘ is still plenty significant.

Not only does it at last confirm Toyota’s resurrection of the Supra name, it also serves as a preview for the car’s styling. As we understand it, remove the livery, wings, diffuser and general motorsport addendum, and you have the production car. So, we’ve done that digitally, creating these renders.

Here's How The Toyota GR Supra Concept Looks Without The Wings

Well, it’s not quite that simple. What our friendly neighbourhood Photoshop ace has done is transplant the concept’s styling - minus the racing bits - onto the basic outline of the FT-1, from which much of the Supra’s exterior design is derived. Minus a few details like the wheels and diffuser - which are a little hard to accurately predict right now - this is what you can expect the car to look like.

As far as the mechanicals go, the latest batch of reports suggest it’ll use a BMW-derived straight-six, and from the sounds of it, there’ll be no manual. We’ll have to wait a little while before the full reveal too - reportedly, that won’t be until the Detroit Auto Show in January 2019.

I really like it. I do wonder what a FnF styling would look like

Can people stop complaining about manuals, because complaining won’t make it come back.
When Toyota makes a manual fun to drive car, people ask for a fast car.
When they make a fast car, people ask for a manual fun to drive car.
You guys are ruining cars yourself, because you’re never happy with what you get.
This car is going to be a fast GT like car, so stop crying about a manual.

To be honest i like where cars are going. I love manuals as much as anyome but speed is speed, and i’ll be damned if i let the lack of a third pedal turn me away from that. The GT86 was a dissapointment to me because it lacked speed, sure it had a manual but so does half the things under $2000 on craigslist with similar horsepower to one too, go buy one of those numbskulls. People need to stop asking technology that, frankly some of them cant even afford, to cater to some prehistoric obsession with phalic mechanical levers

Put an old inferior engine in a new car with modern technology. Yeah, that totally makes sense. Nothing illogical with that at all.

Now who said the Supra was ugly again?

And I swear, Manual or not, I don’t care, this might be the best car in modern times, as long as it has more than 450bhp

Don’t think it has that much from the factory, but it will definitely have enough aftermarkrt perf mods to easily double that figure once it’s been revealed

Chief engineer says it’ll be easily tunable. So those who want more power can get it while the non car guy plebs can stick to a safe 300 horsepower

As long as it’s majestic and fast, I couldn’t give a damn about what gearbox it has. A ZF auto or DCT would be awesome anyways!
