I’ve been to “Pros” several times for insurance repairs. Never once have they made the chip disappear. It’s always been only about a 25% improvement, it becomes slightly more clear, but is still obviously there. Their excuse is that it’s not supposed to disappear completely, but that their glue/etc “stabilizes” the chip so it doesn’t spread.

The point of this isn’t to make the windshield as clear as it was again, it’s to maintain the integrity of your windshield while reducing repair cost that would most likely come out of your pocket.

I thought Dave from autoglass just spoke in a calm Yorkshire accent to sooth the chip away…

Not the most accurate account of how a chipped windscreen is repaired professionally; merely covering the basics. There is a lot more to the process than the video suggests.

Chips are a big issue where I live, I’ve seriously had to go in for windscreen repair every year. During the winter ice makes a huge difference and chunks of snow coming off of cars on the freeway. It’s cool to see how they repair the chip like this.
