The 7 Generations of VW Golf and the colors they look best in
A kind of a #BlogPost by Mk2Golfer
I have been thinking something lately and came to a conclusion:
I like Golfs (NO SHIIT, you’ll say)
And I want to, a kind of, improve my content.
Ya know, so that my posts don’t consist of just pictures or memes.
Therefore, I decided to start writing blogposts!
And what’s a better way of starting that than a blogpost about Golfs and colors.😁
WARNING: Some of the colors might be a bit strange.
And some of the shades might not be correct haha.
So, let’s get rolling!
Mk1 - Lemon Yellow
The Mk1 Golf is the first generation of this German legend.
That’s the reason it’s the boxiest one of them all.
Basically, a car that you have to draw with a ruler (Trust me, I’ve done that before).
As much as it adds to it’s personality and classic-ness, it also means that the colors for these have to be chosen carefully.
Not every color can make a box look good. Haha.
Yellow does the job perfectly.
Along with making the car’s lines look a bit less rough, it also makes the car stand out in the crowd.
That’s probably the case because 90% of Mk1’s I see are white.
And I know only one dude who has a yellow 1980-something Golf.
Fresh as it just rolled off the production line.
I’ll take a pic when I see him next time.
It looks just right.
Mk2 - Bright Red
I’m not sure the name of the actual shade (I’m not good with shades of colors), but it, most definitely, looks awesome.
Some people might ask: But why not the color of your Golf?
Well, as much as I like the blue on my Mk2, red would fit it just a bit better.
All in all, I won’t complain.
For a daily driver, the dark blue is more than good.
Considering that I could’ve been driving a gold-ish one…
Yeah, I won’t complain.
Bright colors on boxy hatches look really, really nice and natural - as if they were the only proper ones.
But can also be mixed with other bright rims, gold BBS, for example, as well as some black steelies.
Simply universal!
Mk3 - Caramel (or Chocolate) Brown
In a recent ‘Ask CT’ post about colors, I mentioned not liking brown cars.
Welp, I’m proving myself wrong now!
The Mk3 looks perfect painted like this.
Brown is a color that suits almost no car, but it does suit this one.
Maybe it’s the MCM’s rusty Golf that made me like these painted brown haha.
Just makes the lines even softer.
There is an orange-brownish painted Golf in my area.
It is a true eye candy.
I don’t know the owner, sadly.
But I can tell that he is a cool guy.
Seriously, I have to take a pic the next time I pass by that parking lot.
Another decent looking paintjob is Harlequin.
But it’s not actually a color, so we’ll talk about that one another time. :)
Mk4 - Cobalt Blue
To the Jap fanboys known as ‘OMG THETS DE ONLY GUD SKYLEIN COLOR. GOLF RIP OFF SKYLEIN DA BEST’.
Well, guess what, kids!
Mk4 wore it better. Haha.
But all jokes aside, on a car with these curves, blue makes it look much better than some darker colors (black, rotten cherry red, etc.).
In combination with yellow lightbulbs and grey dishes, the Golf looks better than Mia Khalifa with no panties. Haha.
The only thing that I’d change on the Golf in the pic would be the rims: Maybe something less… Deep.
But the lowness is as perfect as it can get.
Mk5 - Neon Green
I think that I have mentioned before how I love bright colored hatches.
Mk5 is not an exception.
Besides the stock, blue paint, this is the only one I could possibly imagine these Golfs in. :D
A winner’s combination for this one are black / dark grey rims.
Followed by black window tint.
It’s a pretty badass combination, if you ask me.
And as much as I am not a fan of newer Golfs, this would make it exactly by my taste.
Mk6 - Black
This is the young gangster’s starter pack. Haha
In the 90s, thugs used to roll around in the older Golfs.
Now this is their vehicle of choice.
A black, tinted Mk6 VW Golf.
Lowered, if possible.
And I am a bit of a gangsta myself (Yeah, right. xD), so I’d be glad to own one.
Rollin’ around the hood, listening to Cube…
It would be an experience of it’s kind.
A local wannabe gangster who owns a fast food restourant owns one.
The car looks even better in person, I tell you that.
Mk7 - Pure White, BUT only with bright rims
White is a very tricky color for a car.
Gets dirty way to easy, making your car look like it lacks TLC.
Another problem is that it can make your car look a bit dull, mainstream.
But still, it can look unbelievably good on these Golfs.
The dirtiness problem can be solved by regular washing and waxing.
The other problem, however, can be solved by adding by painting the rims a bright, possibly yellow color.
If ya’ll haven’t noticed, I like bright colors. Haha.
But seriously, they make everything look better in my eyes.
- That was my list of favorite colors for Volkswagen Golfs.
Thanks for reading and make sure to drop a comment on what are your favorite colors!
Cheers, fellas! *
