Formula Phantom
One of my favorite concept car design that I have made 2 years ago. I always dreamed about making my favorite all-time fighter/ interceptor/ long-range fighter- bomber from the 60’s, the iconic McDonnell Douglas F4- Phantom II, into a track day machine that equaled to the package of an F1 car.
The iconic slooping noses, twin side intake with moveable tract ramp to feed the twin supersonic-rated engine placed beneath the rear nacelles plus a moveable, angled rear horizontal stabilizer. All the trademark that defined the F4- Phantom as being a special one to me in term of how the fighter jet should look like.
“Formula Phantom” taking its inspiration from such iconic design. This is also translated the aeronautics dynamic into the whole design as for aero integration for the car itself. The angled rear stabilizer act as an air-brake which can be moved up to -45 to almost 90 degree canted upward. The vertical horizontal stabilizer with rear brake light also acted as a split rudder which aid handling and cornering traction at high speed. The ramp situated at the side intake can control how much the air can be channeled to feed the engine ram-air system and manage the airflow from the nose section to stream into the rear diffuser and vertical stabilizer, creating a high downforce and ground effect for the car at high speed.
The cockpit is inspired by the F4- Phantom II fighter jet itself. The bubble canopy provided almost clear, unobstructive 280 degree of the driver, with F1 styled cockpit design which integration of whole system by the steering wheel is the key.
The wheel is based by turbine wheel design with high sidewall rim to aid the process of streamlining the oncoming wind, with the turbine spokes and front wheel covers are built with brake duct to channel the air into the disc brakes as a cooling measures.
After all, it was a jet-inspired track day car, with the most extreme aerodynamics for the most hardcore track day racer and enthusiast driver that wanted to be thrilled by the Formula Phantom—- The fighter-jet turned track day fighter tool.

The F4 phantom is one of the best looking fighter jets imo. Really nice design.
