7 Rapid Cars That The New Audi RS5 Can Beat To 62mph

The new Audi RS5 might not be any more powerful than the old one, but it's a hell of a lot faster. Quattro and all the torque makes it faster than a surprising number of 'proper' sports cars
7 Rapid Cars That The New Audi RS5 Can Beat To 62mph

We’ve all known, since we were little kids, that any car that has a 0-62mph time beginning with a three is a serious traffic light grand prix weapon. It used to be the arena of hyper-exclusive, rarefied exotica, but advancements in four-wheel drive and turbocharging mean that these days, even mid-size fast coupes can smack down a mighty time.

The new RS5 is such a car. Hitting 62mph in just 3.9 seconds, it’s properly, properly quick. Quicker, in fact, than supercar legends and even some current driver-focused sports cars. The RS5 isn’t as exotic and maybe isn’t even as desirable as any of these, but no one’s going to tell us that spending half the price on a car that’s this fast is a bad idea.

It’s not an impractical car, either. It has seats for all the family, a big-ish boot and, if you have more patience than the Dalai Lama, it’ll do 32.5mpg. If Audi’s recent form carries on, we might even see faster versions down the line. An RS5 Plus might tick a few more supercars off its list…
