You Can Now Order An SUV With A Ferrari-Built Engine

After spending a year or so testing the water for customer demand, Maserati GB has confirmed that it will start offering the Levante SUV with the Ferrari-built twin-turbo V6

A petrol-powered Maserati Levante has joined the range alongside the diesel already on sale in the UK.

There was originally some doubt over whether or not Maserati GB would take up the option of the Ferrari-built twin-turbocharged V6, but the 3.0-litre unit is now officially a choice.

It delivers 424bhp and a rich, bombastic soundtrack along with potential for 164mph and 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds; not bad for a big SUV like the Levante.

Known as the Levante S, its arrival in the UK is, apparently, in response to customer demand, but given how few petrol-powered SUVs you generally see on the roads, we’re not sure where this demand is coming from. The Premier League, perhaps…?

Prices for the S will start from £70,755, but don’t count on leaving the dealership without having committed at least a few thousand more on some of the huge array of options available. From personal experience on the car’s launch, adding £15,000 is easier than it should be…

It’s the other way around. The Maserati Levante S with the Ferrari engine has been out for over a year, it only came out in the UK just now!

They aren’t the same engines. The Maserati is an F160 enigne whereas the Quadrifoglio engine is F154. Don’t know why they didn’t just use the same engine in both.

But rich Chaldeans will still buy the Levante instead.

Or you can save a whole bunch of money and get the new SQ5. I know the Italian style and noise is tempting, but you have to pay for it.

Not sure why the press photo shows it splashing in mud, since less are going to be used for that purpose than 911R owners that actually drive their cars
