You Can Buy A Mini Electric McLaren P1 And It Even Has Dihedral Doors

The McLaren P1 is an incredible machine, but with small production numbers and an original price not that far off a million quid, it’s not exactly a car of the people, is it? However, Woking has now produced a P1 almost all of us should be able to afford - it costs just £375.
The catch? It’s made of plastic, and is a ride-on toy intended for people aged six and under. Although in its press release, McLaren does say of the age restriction: “at least that’s the official guidance”. Sounds like a challenge to us…

The top speed is 3mph, and the Volcano Orange-only machine can rocket to that terminal speed in just two seconds. “Like every McLaren, its acceleration is startling,” McLaren says. Quite.
There are three forward gears plus a reverse gear, but the best bit is the doors. Yep, they’re dihedral, just like on the real thing.

Have a kid who’d love his own McLaren, or want to try and squeeze yourself behind the wheel of this diminutive P1? It goes on sale at McLaren dealers from October.
