Why Driving Slowly In The Passing Lane Is Stupid And Dangerous

Driving slowly in the left lane actually causes more accidents than people who drive over the prescribed speed limit. Here's why people need to stop doing it!

Anybody here in California can vouch on this.

As a Canadian who lives on the border… It seems like Americans have no clue about this whatsoever.

Canadians are generally pretty good on the 400 series highways, but sometimes on the smaller highways people can be dicks.

This is so basic it’s mind blowing to me that it has to be said. No wonder there’s so many accidents,

I live in Missouri and was surprised to hear he was probably pulled over for left lane blocking here. People here are so horrible about staying in the left for no reason that I honestly didn’t even know it was illegal.

You drive in the left lane then get a ticket for speeding 5mph over the speed limit …

This system tho

I once had that driving at night. Someone who isn’t me was really stoned when they shouldn’t have been, so someone who isn’t me was going at the speed limit or perhaps a little slower(50kph in town) and a driver passed on the left and was going maybe 60 kph(which is what most people do) and a cop pulled him over. It was also like 1 am too.

In Virginia, this is a serious problem.

i drove from myrtle beach back to pittsburgh, and the number of lane hogs was incredible. even in states where there’s a “keep right except to pass” law, there was always someone going 5 mph under the limit in the left lane…

Get rid of the speed limit, so people with faster cars will go seriously fast in the left lane (like in Germany) so slower drivers will see clearly that the left lane is not for them. Easier to understand that when you get 4 angry Porsche drivers behind you in 10 seconds when driving in the left lane at about 140 kph.

That’s not correct I’m sorry. In Germany you have the “Rechtsfahrgebot”, which means you have to drive on the right lane and are only allowed to use the left lane forpassing slower drivers. Even if you drive a seriously fast car you are obligated by law to use the right lane if there is enough space.

So you know, like the UK’s motorways and dual carriageways work?

Luckily most drivers understand this rule in the UK. If someone doesn’t move over within 1 mile to let me past though, I will undertake. I’m not proud of it but as far as common sense goes. I’ve got more than those people
