What Looks Like A Boring Toyota Camry Is Actually An 850bhp Drag Racer
Everyone loves a sleeper. There’s something particularly special about taking an unassuming ride and turning it into something that’ll demolish everything else on the road. With that in mind, the Sleeper Camry that just showed up at SEMA looks like the perfect car.
From the outside, it looks like a standard Camry, but that’s nothing but a shell. Lift the body up, and you’ll see a custom tube chassis with a 5.7-litre V8 from the Tundra. The engine has been upgraded with forged pistons and connecting rods, with a TRD supercharger and wet nitrous system providing extra bang. All in the Sleeper makes in excess of 850bhp.
Toyota estimates the dragster could complete the quarter-mile in 9.8 seconds, with a little help from the not-so-subtle 335-width drag racing rear tyres. The car could be making its way to a drag strip fairly soon, and considering it took just 11 weeks to build, a sub-10 second time would be mighty impressive.
