We 'Fixed' The BMW Concept 4's Grille By Downsizing It Twice

We 'Fixed' The BMW Concept 4's Grille By Downsizing It Twice

We’ve had plenty of concept cars and even production vehicles to help us acclimatise to BMW’s new obsession with gargantuan kidney grilles. Regardless, the 4-series-previewing Concept 4 revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show came as a shock.

Perhaps it’s down to the big grille thing being applied to a smaller car - thus far it’s only tended to be used on bigger vehicles like the X7 and 7-series. Or maybe it’s because BMW’s designers made the 4’s huge gnashers themselves extra spangly.

Although the Concept 4 is just a show car, its controversial looks matter. The car is described as 85 per cent production-ready, and BMW has said that it “Offers a look ahead to the expressive face of the 4 Series range”. Oh.

It’s all part of BMW’s efforts to give the new 4-series more distinction from the G30 3-series it’s derived from. Hopefully, though, BMW will give the production version an “expressive face” that’s a little more restrained. Because once that grille is shrunk down a little, as seen in our render above, it starts to make a little more sense.

The kidneys here are by no means small, though, so what happens if you downsize them again?

Here’s where the huge side intakes become a little problematic - they now dominate the front end, making a perfectly normal-sized pair of grilles seem weirdly small. But still, it’s surely an improvement on the Frankfurt car.

Which of the two renders gets your vote? Or do you prefer the original concept? Let us know in the comments - we won’t judge…

Actually I don’t like that downsizing at all. Now the bottom air intake looks exceedingly silly, like an open mouth with a heavy underbite.

to be honest the first pictures with the Bavarian concept of the next Bmw 4 coupe series 2020 known as: Bmw Concept 4 coupe looks horribly nose and badly drawn but the picture number 3 is drawn correctly the nose of the concept Bmw Concept 4 coupe sincere photo 3 should be inspired and at the production model in picture 3 with the smaller nose identical to the one of the Bmw 3 Series G20 sedan so I think the picture 3 is the correct one and the nose is slightly smaller no bigger than the ugly drawn one and it ruins the look of the cars I vote for. picture no.2 that is the correct picture and the correct nose for the concept Bmw Concept 4 coupe so I hope to find it in the future Bmw 4 series coupe 2020 so picture 2 is the correct one I give note 10 and picture 1 ‘’ from what I have seen I did not like the nose at the concept bmw concept 4 coupe is wrongly drawn and will spoil its appearance car next production cars so note 4 in picture 1 I hope that the ugly and big nose is not found at all in the production car as it would ruin the appearance of cars and it would be sad I vote picture 2 with note 10 and picture 1 do not support it that he hated drawing his big nose on the bmw concept 4 coupe I hope it won’t be found in the future bmw 4 series coupe 2020 car that would ruin his look on his big and ugly drawn nose and I hope this one to stay only with the concept cars Bmw Concept 4 coupe and for the production variant I vote 100% picture no.2!
